Osborne House
Queen Victoria's seaside home, Osborne House, just 2 miles away gives an intriguing glimpse into the family life of our former Queen. Enjoy the grandeur of the Royal Apartments, including the Durbar Room, with its exquisite collection of gifts given to Queen Victoria by the Indian people. A Swiss cottage complete with miniature furniture was built in the grounds for the royal children, and is fascinating. A Victorian Walled Garden and the Terrace Garden which overlooks the Solent will delight any garden enthusiast. There is also a fine 9 hole golf course and clubhouse.

Carisbrooke Castle
Discover the history of the island's foremost castle. Once prison to Charles I, this royal castle was also the residence of Queen Victoria's daughter, Princess Beatrice. With its keep, battlements and working well house, Carisbrooke Castle is an exciting place for the whole family to explore.

Freshwater Bay Golf Club
If you like a leisurely game of golf in the midst of beautiful coastal scenery, then you will really enjoy the 18-hole course at Freshwater Bay Golf Club. Located on Afton Down and Compton Down above Freshwater Bay with sensational views of the Solent and English Channel, this seaside links style course on natural open down land is 5,725 yards long, par 68 and provides a challenge for golfers of all abilities.

Brickfields Horse Country
A great place for animal lovers to visit, Brickfields attractions include a fully approved BHS riding school, Mini World, the home of miniature Shetland ponies, Farm Corner and Donkey Town. Special summer evening pony treks are also available.

Bembridge Windmill
Owned and maintained by The National Trust, Bembridge Windmill is the island's only surviving windmill. Though the windmill is no longer working, it does still contain much of its original wooden machinery. Climb the ladders to the top and experience the breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.

The Folly Inn
This famous yachtsman's rustic waterhole, is a short stroll ½ mile downstream from Island Harbour. Noted for its good food and al fresco terrace, The Folly is perched on the banks of the Medina. Hugely popular live evening entertainment gives the pub a great atmosphere. Whilst at Island Harbour, this is a must to visit!

Newport
Newport is the Isle of Wight's attractive county town with two elegant squares and many fine Georgian and Victorian town houses. Shopping in Newport is a pleasure, with a variety of well-known national outlets, exclusive small shops, coffee shops and tea-houses all of which are within easy walking distance. There is plenty of evening entertainment with a cinema, three theatres and a host of popular pubs and restaurants. Newport Harbour is just a short walk from the town centre where you will find museums, craft studios and the Quay Arts Centre. The Museum of Island History is an excellent place to visit or for more ancient culture, visit the 3rd Century Roman Villa on the outskirts of the town.

Walks
The Island has over 500 miles of carefully maintained footpaths and bridleways, offering extensive opportunities for walking. Enjoy a leisurely walk along the River Medina towards Newport or Cowes. Or simply take a picnic to one of the island's beautiful nearby beaches or woodlands.
