The marina is tidal, and navigation through the lock is possible three hours either side of high tide. The marina will maintain a depth of 2.6 metres. Island Harbour is found on the eastern bank of the tidal River Medina on the Isle of Wight, to the north of the county town of Newport. The closest vehicle ferries are: Portsmouth – Fishbourne (45 mins) 3.5 miles from Island Harbour 0870 582 0202 www.wightlink.co.uk East Cowes – Southampton (55 mins) 4.5 miles from Island Harbour 0870 444 8898 www.redfunnel.co.uk A further Wightlink vehicle ferry service operates from Lymington, in the New Forest, to Yarmouth. Fast passenger ferries operate from Southampton to West Cowes (www.redfunnel.co.uk) and from Portsmouth Harbour Station (www.wightlink.co.uk), both with connections to London trains (www.nationalrail.co.uk 08457 48 49 50); from Southsea to Ryde via hovercraft (www.hovertravel.co.uk 01983 811000). Newport is well signed across the Island. Leave Newport from the main (Coppins Bridge) roundabout, on the A3054, signed towards Ryde. Drive for just under two miles, passing Medina High School and Theatre and Orchard Private Hospital and into open countryside. The sign to Island Harbour will be found on the left-hand side; turn left into Mill Lane and proceed to the end, to Island Harbour on the river. |
